STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and Staten Island native Bebe Rexha is focusing on her music following a painful breakup, according to People.com.
Rexha, 34, told the outfit that following the breakup with ex-boyfriend Keyan Safyari, she felt that the only thing that would help her get through the aftermath would be throwing herself into music rather than taking a break.
A new single enтιтled “Chase It (Mmmm Da Da Da),” finds Rexha feeling like she’s not necessarily looking for a new man in her life, but focusing on her life and feeling confident, the report said.
“Everybody wants to be in love, but I haven’t been chasing that. I’m kind of focusing on myself, and it’s really freeing and fun. And it’s kind of like, ‘So if you want this, then come chase it because I’m not chasing it right now,’” Rexha explained.
The song is set to be the lead single from an upcoming dance album that’s still in the process of being completed.
While finding love may have alluded the one-time Staten Islander thus far, career high notes have not been, as Rexha has gained a fanbase for both her music and daring, forward-thinking style choices.
In 2023, Bebe was bested by Beyonce at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, when Bey won the Best Dance-Electronic Music Recording category during the pre-show ceremony.
Rexha was nominated in the category for her single, “I’m Good (Blue),” a remix of the 1998 hit “Blue (Da Be Dee)” by Eiffel 65.
For the red carpet, Rexha turned heads as she rocked a bubblegum pink gown, a nod to Marilyn Monroe’s iconic pink gown in “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend.” The look was completed with hoop earrings, matching gloves, Farrah Fawcett hair and silver platform sandals.
Later that year, Rexha hit the road for her “Best F’n Night Of My Life” nationwide tour.
At the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, presenter Bebe’s outfit stunned again in black leather, which was business in the front, and party in the back. Beautiful Bebe turned heads on the VMA pink carpet in a floor-length, black leather dress with ʙuтт-baring cutouts and spaghetti-straps.
Rexha, a one-time Staten Islander who grew up in Grasmere and attended Tottenville High School, famously helped co-write the 2012 Eminem and Rihanna hit single “The Monster,” which ended up winning a Grammy, while in the process of working toward her own successful career.
