The brash revenge track features fellow Memphis MCs Gloss Up, Slimeroni, K Carbon, and Aleza
THE ONLY THING better than getting revenge on a bad ex, is getting revenge on a bad ex with the help of some devoted friends. GloRilla does just that in the new music video for “Wrong One,” her posse cut with fellow Memphis rappers Gloss Up, Slimeroni, K Carbon, and Aleza.
Produced by Tay Keith, “Wrong One” is a scorched-earth anthem stuffed with hilarious one-liners. Aleza delivers the memorable kiss-off on the hook — “Steady sнιтtin’ on these bitches like I got the runs” — though GloRilla arguably takes the prize for the line so brash it deserves to be repeated twice, “Soon as he click on my IG, n*gga get to masturbating.”
To match the song’s tone, GloRilla and co. have turned in an equally emphatic video, which GloRilla co-directed with Benmarc. The clip finds GloRilla pulling up to her man’s house, only to catch him letting another woman inside. In response, the five women sneak into his house, break all his sнιт, and end it all with a nice cleansing ғιʀᴇ
“Wrong One” marks GloRilla’s latest single of 2023, following tracks like “Lick or Sum,” “Internet Trolls,” and “On War U On.” The singles follow GloRilla’s breakthrough 2022 EP, Anyways, Life’s Great, which features her hit Grammy-nominated song, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).”
GloRilla recently featured prominently in Rolling Stone’s“Future 25” list, where she discussed her desire to reveal more of herself and her sensibilities on her forthcoming full-length debut (neither a тιтle nor release date have been revealed yet).
“I don’t want to be labeled as just a ratchet rapper, you know what I’m saying?” she said. “I’m going for different vibes — stuff that everybody can relate to. Of course I’m going to put my ratchet, fun sнιт out, because that’s what I blew up with. [But] I want to actually talk to people, let them know … I can talk some real sнιт. I can go gospel. I can do a little R&B.”
